The S2000 takes 5.1....NOT 6. I was saying you need 6 bottles...cause you still need to fill the .1

Some people I have read need to put like 5.5 quarts...I say just put in 5 quarts. Let the car warm up a little then let it cool down and check your oil If you are good then thats fine...if you are low then add accordingly. Its not goo to overflow it.

Just remember that the owners manual says 5.1 quarts per oil change.

Also if you pull up the dip stick and the oil indication is on the lower part of the dip stick...it will take about a quart to fill it all the way back up. You must check you oil frequently if you VTEC often. VTEC burns oil...so remember to always pay attention to your oil levels. Some cars lose abotu a quart of oil every 1-2k miles depending on driving conditions, so you might need to put in some oil inbetween the 3k interval oil changes.

This is what you do. Buy 6 qt of oil for a change. Fill the engine up with 5 full qt. Let the engine run for a minute or so to circulate the oil. Turn the car off and let it sit. Come back and check the oil level with the dipstick. For me, 5qts is about two Xs from the H (full) line on the dipstick. You want the oil level to be between the H and L at all times, but I always try to get it one to two Xs from the top. If 5qt doesn't put you a few Xs from the H, open the 6th qt and pour in a LITTLE. Remember, the L to H represents one quart, so one X on the dipstick is very little oil.

Honda recommends you check your oil level every time you fill up the gas. I generally check every 500-750 miles. I will burn ~.5 qt every 1000 miles, and will fill it up with more oil whenever I check it and the level is one X below half way full.

The proper way to check your oil: Let the engine heat up completely (by driving, don't let it idle). Turn the car off and let it sit ~3 minutes (i.e. while you're filling up the gas). Then check the dipstick. You should never be below the L when you check the oil this way. If you are close to the L, I highly suggest you add some oil ASAP.

The owners manual will tell you everything you need to know about the car.. I suggest you read it. Changing the oil is one of the most rudimentary maintenance procedures on a car.

One process is also to pull the dipstick right after you shut the car off to allow the oil to settle out of the dipstick shaft, then after a few minutes, reinsert and check your readings. Less chance for a mis-reading that way.

Read the manual and the above posts. Our dipstick is meant to "warm read" meaning that the engine has to be brought to operating temperature (3 bars on your temp gauge), turned off and let it sit for a few minutes (but not enough for the oil to cool down all the way so only 3-10min) and then check the oil.
