Default I need help with shipping a car! Advice/Experience welcome!

Hello, I just bought an s2000 from across the states. I am in CA. The car is located near New york. Can anyone give me some advice/knowledge about the following:
1. Shipping the car to CA
2. How to do a safe payment for the car.

I just want your advice please. I can figure most of it out but want to know from your experiences. Thanks!!

Make sure that you consider convered carriers. They are more expensive but will minimize damage in transit. We ship a lot of cars for relocating employees and always use convered carrier...after having a few bad experiences.

A covered carrier is essentially transport on a trailer (like new cars) and then the entire trailer is covered with a heavy tarp. The trailer has a metal frame around it to support the tarp. This has the advantage of flexibility of an open carrier but the ability to protect your car from road rash in transit. It is also always good to have someone your trust watch them load your car...often not feasible.

We use Dependable Auto Shippers...here is a link and there is actually a picture of a covered carrier on the home page.

Like I said it may be expensive but call around...of course the standard should be less than the price of one way airfare!

There are TONS of auto relocation places out there. I bought my s from a dealer in chicago and I found a train that I put it on that took it to seattle for me. Then I took the train up to seattle and drove it home. It was WAY cheaper than sending it by covered truck, and it was shipped in a closed container anyways. I dont remember the exact price....something like $500 compared to the cheapest quote of $700 I got in an uncovered truck...

I just shipped my S from NY to Las Vegas using Dependable Auto Shippers covered transport. The car got there before I even left NY and arrived in one piece. It wasn't cheap ($1200) but at least I slept at night.
