Default I scream rape!!!

For the last year I have been eyeballing an S2k, but it wasn't until recently that my wife and I decided to take the plunge. Rather than visit dealers to get turned down on the pricing information I've learned from this board, I decided to call them. That way I would save a lot of time and gas. I called 7 dealers in North Carolina and none of them will even consider my offer. They all say I'm thousands of dollars out of their ballpark. Here's the offer I gave to them:

2003 S2k, Silverstone/Black
Front lip spoiler
Rear deck spoiler
$30,500.00

Considering Grand Honda is selling at $28,995.00 without the accessories but WITH the destination charge, I don't think $30,500.00 is ridiculously low. In fact, based on Grand's prices, I should be paying LESS than $30,500.00.

What do I have to do not to get lied to and raped?!?

Someone on the board recently printed Ulrich's post (chicago prices...) with the add for the s2k at the good price and presented it to grand who honored it even though it was months old. Maybe you can do the same locally and get a better price, or buy from grand and have it shipped. I bought from them and I had a good experience.

Bear in mind that we have ***yet*** to encounter Spring. And when that hits, these S2000's that are sitting around will surely fly out of the dealers. Also note that these are '03's. The dealers can sit on them until Fall if they need to and can easily command sticker plus, regardless of what other dealers/areas are willing to do.

If you are interested in a great deal, there's an '02 Sebring Silver/Red in New Bern. It is previously owned by an older woman and only has 1,173 miles on the odometer. The dealership is asking $28,500 but I know they have room to work and you can easily add/negotiate extra accessories for cost with installation. Here's a link (with PICS) if you are interested.

They start to jump thru hoops when your in the showroom with checkbook in hand and say...I want to walk out of this showroom with an s2000 TODAY!Phone is for posers. Walk in and bust balls...eye to eye....It drives them crazy when you want to buy but walk out because of price. Find a dealer with the color on there lot and bust balls.

For our last purchase, a 2002 GMC Envoy, we took this route and visited dealers. Three dealers let us walk out of the dealership after they, too, said we were thousands out of their league. Finally, we found a dealer over the phone that gave us a price a few hundred dollars above invoice. I'd rather not waste the time or gas to drive all over the southeast to find a reasonable deal.

Does it seem like prices are starting to tighten up again? Not a big jump but from some of the threads that I've read in the last few days it seems like the price is starting to go back up.
