I think I've felt this continuous bucking problem before, but it's only happened a couple times in 1st gear. It's not the "buck" you get from a standard manual transmission ... it's definitely the continuous jerking motion that you guys are describing.

I've got a '00 with about 33k miles on it ... but I really have no idea what the problem is.

Had this "bucking" problem occasionally on my '01. The '02 does not do it at all. What changed, the MAP sensor? ECU program?

Others: we had a line of 3 S2000's crawling (less than 20 mph) on an interstate (mine, Jims2k, and my brother's), all bucking like mad at times.

My sceneario slightly different. Washed the car, drove through the city for a few mins, then blasted onto the highway, third gear, right around 5K and it just fell on its face. No bucking....I jumped out of the pedal, then went easy for about 2-3 miles, then held her to the floor. No problem after that it seems. I put some questionable fuel in, and just washed the car, then took a fairly tight onramp.... shortly after all of this is when my probs arose! It was only brief, I got my boot out of it faaast.

MAP>???????

I know this thread is old, but tight left hand sweepers especially if you "throw it in" can cause fuel starve if you're very low on fuel and on stock tires or even at > 1/2 tank on stickier tires. The car will stumble.

Wow, good to know. 9 1/2 years and 136k mi and so far so good. The only issue I had w/ the MAP sensor is one time when I sprayed some throttle body cleaner through the butterfly valve and had an issue. I had to take off the MAP sensor and clean it then it was fine. That was 3 or 4 yrs ago. Definately a thread to keep an eye on.
