My friend was getting on to the freeway and as he was merging, he saw a CHP on the far right lane. Now most people would let the CHP pass and merge behind him, but he decided to speed up and go in front of the cop. (He was within the speed limit) Seconds later CHP pulled him over. He told my friend this "Now I am not going to give you a ticket, you are free to go in a minute." So my friend asked "So.. why did you pull me over officer?" "Well, It would have looked bad for me if I didn't pull you over, I had to set examples." And he was free to go. The CHP just pulled him over to show his power.

Something to remember, policemen are not always the geniuses or high achievers in school. Police work does not pay very well either.

So you have to remember that their uniform doesn't make them right or law abiding.

You want police to be strong with type-A personalities so that they can protect people from violence, but the same qualities lead to a lot of harassment and posturing when the enforcing the misdemeanor and public safety laws. It would help if that had a sense of humor about it...but they act like you should be sorry for driving 70 in a 55 zone, when the only thing you're truly sorry about is that you were pulled over for it. And they always act like you've made a serious infraction of the law...

Speaking of the police. I have noticed several cops pass me on the highway going about 80 or 85 with no lights flashing and they aren't after anyone. Do the same laws not apply to cops for speeding? I had a NC state trooper pass me going at least 85 on Sunday morning. It was a flat highway so I saw him for a good while and he never pulled anyone over. It looked as if he was just carrying on a conversation with the other person in his car while he went speeding past me. Has anyone ever tried calling the *HP and report a police officer?

Well, at least dirty looks don't get you any points on your insurance.

Went to a concert in VA and on the way back, my tail lights blow (another car) for no apparent reason. I pull over and replace the fuse but it just blew again. So I put my hazards on and was driving at a reasonable speed when the fuzz decides to pull me over.
I was told to stop by a 711, buy a hot dog, and put the aluminum foil wrapper in where my fuse should go.
Thanks MacGyver! Just what i need, a melted electrical system. Not all cops are the sharpest tool in the shed. However, I find it is quickest to smile and knod as opposed to arguing.

argh! just posting to vent my Laconia Motorcycle weekend romp last year... While doing a very well controlled donut on my ZX-1100 I was cuffed and arrested by and ossifer of da law for 'reckless conduct'. It cost me over 1,400 to make this go away.

Point of the story? They have the uniform and the gun, just don't get caught, especially while lighting up the rear wheel(s)
