I'm currently doing the clear corner project
Wow... took me forever to get the front bumper off.... this is a project!.... i finally got the lights out and i packed it up for tonight.. i will do the next half tomorrow.. taking apart the housing....and pulling that orange thing out..... how long does it take per headlight housing.. i have a heatgun with two setting Cold or Hot then theres a little vent on the side that slides from left to right (Low Temp to High Temp).. so i was wondering how close to keep the heatgun to the headlight and are there anyways i can put something over the headlight to stop the heat from touching the parts i dont want.. wow this is tough.. thanks in advance for the help.
First of all good luck with the project.
You really need another person working with you so don't try to do this alone.
One person applying the heat and other person working to pry open each small section at a time.
Low temp. will not do anything to melt the glue so keep it at the high heat or max heat.
You will be surprised to find that the housing is very durable and heat resistant but still use caution and apply heat very short period at a time. Also your main concern should be not to melt another person's hand while applying the heat.
Be patient and don't try to rush and make sure you are prepared in the careful working environment so that you will not scratch the clear housing. Also careful with the bulbs you may damage them if you are not careful.
But it isn't as tough as it seems or sounds, you should enjoy your much desired clean look in no time.
This procedure is so much much better then The Reverand who first ever performed the clearing procedure eons ago. He spent whole day baking the thing apart
I thank him to inspire me to do the same but much easier way with heat gun.
The Reverand's car looked awesome back then, still looks good of course.
