If I got the 06 then I would purchase the hard top. Actually. I think on the dealer specs it says the 08 has 7 years 100k miles mechanical and like 4 years 40k general. I prefer the hard top. I kind of want the Honda because I'm only 18 and I don't see any point in spending so much money. I'm focused on making some investments and start a business so I don't want to be spending money on a car now.

I also think that the start engine is kind of stupid. If your putting the key in you might as well twist it. Seems to me like more work is involved.

I haven't test driven one yet. I will go to a local dealership this week and test one. Is there any noticeable differnce in the ride between the cr and the normal trim? I personally prefer the cr interior but its not that important.

Just a heads up, considering you're 18... Insurance should be your main concern.

he's 18 and his current car is a C32 AMG...I don't think he has to worry too much about insurance costs.

Honestly, if it is an AC equipped CR, for $24k, and theres NOTHING wrong with it, buy it.

Ya insurance isn't a big deal for me. I paid for the car and I make an insurance payment here and there but for the most part my parents cover my insurance cost so ill consider myself lucky. I have a few sources of income and I do help my parents with business a lot so them paying my insurance somehow balances I guess.

Right now Its 750 every six months for full cover from allstate. It might be much or not. I paid off the Benz so paying around 115 a month for insurance isn't a big deal. (750 a month for car and insurance would be).

Ill go look at the cr. 24k is still too much for it for the market conditions I doubt there is a lot of interest for it. I think I could get them to hand it over for a bit less. It does seem priced to sell. There are others selling 08 cr's with like 10 miles for like 10k more

Heres a couple reasons I want the s2k.
1. Manual
2. 20ish mpg?? Is that true?...better than 9mpg
3. it will have a 7 year/100k warranty on mechanical right? so I dont have to worry about maintenance, just brake and oil changes which ill do myself probably.
4. has a start engine button, i am tired of pulling my key out all the time
5. it will live past 100k lol
6. 90% my money is going toward my car
7. Its one of the best cars out there
8. did I miss anything?
2) 23 city / 31 hwy is pretty easy even with aggressive driving

3) Bumper to bumper is only 3yr/36k mile. Drive train is 5yr/60k mile.

4) Already mentioned...button is not a keyless start.

5) Long past 100k.

If you don't mind not being able to drop the top in a matter of seconds, then the CR is a good choice. But drive both the CR and base before you decide, the CR has a little more harsh of a ride, which you may not like.

Is there any difference in modding a regular s2000 and a the cr? Would I still be able to get FI just as easily as for a 01-07?

The Honda Certified is like a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc. pre-owned CPO warranty type-deal. The dealer inspects it and slaps on the warranty (which is probably more limited than the original warranty) as a selling point to the car. $24k for a CR w/ AC Apex Blue with 1.8k miles sounds really cheap to me. The market is tanking though and I haven't kept up with car prices.

Also, if you want to go FI, it makes a difference between MY '01 and MY '05 and MY '06+. MY '06+ have drive by wire and a turbo or supercharger made for a non drive by wire will not bolt straight on and work on a drive by wire s2k. They can be modified for a reasonable price but if you get an '06+ I believe Kraftwerks and Greddy have kits out for the drive by wire model years.

Oh and you will love the gas mileage but the tank is pretty small (13 gallons). I average 27mpg with mixed city/traffic/occasional vtec driving.
