It would be the best decision you ever made. These cars are awesome.

Like cthree said, you should consider what you want in a car. Then ask us how the S2000 stacks up in those areas.

A friend of mine just traded in her Mustang convertible for an Audi TT Roadster, which was a great move up! For her, the TT is a better choice than the S2000 because it will be more comfortable and take less work to drive.

I drove her TT, and it's very nice. I'd never trade the S2000's shifter, steering, or brakes, but I can see how some people would prefer the TT's softer ride and greater low/mid torque (once the turbo spools up). Personally, I enjoy the focused nature of the S2000, including the stiff ride and minimalist cockpit, and I love the linear rush of power from 6000 to 9000 ("hilarious ferocity").

Ted

btw, can anyone find me a complete set of specifications and features on the TT roadster? I can't get Audi's stinkin' web site to work...

i love my tt coupe, don't get me wrong. however, my dad a 1990 miata (one of the first around) and i miss the "go cart" feeling, short shifts, and having the top down. i would miss the tt interior, one of the nicest ever. if you've never been in one you're truly missing out. you can just sit and admire how a show car interior made it into production. that being said a 9k redline sounds mighty nice! decisions, decisions....

Spend some time in the S2K first. A business associate has a TT roadster. We have been swapping drives back and forth from Binghamton to Ottawa every other week. What you are hearing about the ride is very true, the cockpit is definatly tighter and holds you in the seat better in the S2K. The TT has trip computer ect....I like the raw feel of the S2k better.....but they are very differant.

bob - I upgraded from a 94 miata R model - rough ride, great shifts, and everything was very tight and predictable. this is a bit different car - more powerful, handles great, but I will say this, its not a go-cart style of a ride. it doesn't have the 'two latches and throw the top back' kind of feel, but a bit more fluff than that - but, I do love it.

and for the ponticrap comment - the 'sucks' comment was towards someone who deleted there post and was just saying that the TT sucks. I dont think it sucks, it just doesn't fit my style.

I have a good friend who has a TT and we switched cars one day a couple of months ago. I hadn't driven one before, and I actually didn't really care much for the car before I drove it. But after that day, I was quite impressed with the TT. I posted a thread about it...it points out the differences that I found. Check it out and you will see...

Enjoy the ride!

Bob-

Greg drove my TT the day we "traded" cars. The ideal situation for you is to be able to own both as s4 Mike suggested!!!

I've had my TT for 14 months and she's got 25k miles. What a great sport sedan the 225TTQC is. For touring and hauling stuff around it's great! (Altho I was hauling a set of Hoosiers around last nite for the s2k in my TT and well with the 4th tyre in the front seat I couldn't shift into 6th.)

The s2k on the other hand is a real sport car. As you've read by all the other posts there really is no comparision between the two cars. Two tottally different cars with different purposes in mind. I think it's pretty funny looking at those that bash the TT here and those that bash the s2k on audiworld. Ya just can't compare the two! As Greg said in his review of my TT, it's like a Caddilac vs. an F1 car. Ya drive one for comfort & the other is a race car!

So depending on if you only can have one car, and what exactely you are looking for in a car- that will be your decsion. I'm lucky enuf to own both. The s2k spends most of it's time on an AutoX course and the TT is my daily driver. You'll have fun with either one, but if there is any way to have both- that would be the best decision!

If you're going to quote the magazine numbers you should also tell him that you have to side-step the clutch at 7k rpm's to get those numbers on the S2k... not something everyone is ready to do.
