If they have a tow vehicle...your locked wheels won't help much. But...I suppose you can park it in a way that makes them more effective.

I've thought about theft and vandalism to the S when I'm on the road away from home. Having seen one car hooked up to a tow vehicle and pulled 60 ft onto a bed without a key in the ignition, I'm not too confident that a wheel lock device would prevent that from happening. Having been a victim of vandalism with a slashed soft top that was only 3 months old, I know from the cuts on both sides that they were trying to get inside. I was at a good hotel chain and still this happened.

As you stated, a good thief will only be delayed a short time with any device. I have a GPS tracking device and an alarm. A lock only gives the owner some satisfaction. Do what you feel comfortable with and carry good insurance.

Just buy good insurance and don't lose sleep over it. It's just a car

That may be but if you are on a road trip and just spent the night in Snakey Falls Idaho and find yourself sans vehicle in the morning, it can be a bit of a chore to go home.

Sure, but your little lock on a rim isn't going to stop someone from stealing it. They'll just damage the body and strip for parts.

Can't imagine there is much trunk room for these if you're really on a road trip.

A multi layered security system is your best option. A quality car alarm system, with notification capability, a in car surveillance camera/motion sensor w/ notification capabilities and maybe even a GPS tracking system. The cost won't be cheap, but a replacement car won't be either. With the notification options you need to consider whether you will feel comfortable confronting the "bad guys" in the event of a problem. Otherwise you just call the police and hope for the best.
