pretty impressive gain from the Skunk2 catback. i think it's the same as the Invidia and BuddyClub dual right?

Yeah there was a post about this a while ago, I really don't think this is an accurate test -- there is absolutely no 60mm dual exhaust for the S2000 that will make power like that, you need a 70mm single to pick up those kinds of gains.

Plus w/ the AEM EMS, they only gained 1-2 hp and lbs/ft of torque in the midrange, where other tuners are racking up 15whp+ with an EMS in the midrange.

The whole thing just doesn't make any sense, unless they somehow got the dynos mixed up -- I would believe 1-2 hp increase from the exhaust and 10whp increase from the EMS (with a poor tuner), but that goes against every other related dyno on this forum.

That's a lot more than I expected! I guess that's good news ...

1-2 hp, did you read the article?

"With the ability to alter the VTEC crossover point set at the factory issued 6500rpm, we managed to lower the low cam to high cam transition to 5500rpm,enabling us to eliminate the dip, often seen with VTEC controlled vehicles, and managed to pick up 8hp and 10 lb-ft at 6300 rpm."
HORSEPOWER GAIN
1500 to 3500 HP range: 2 to 8
3500 to 5500 HP range: 1 to 2
5500 to redline HP range: 3 to 6

^That is also what it says in the article. The dyno graph looks modified, there is no dyno curve that smooth on a stock car. Plus, assuming that they just modified their dyno sheet to be easier to read or something, on the chart the still LOSE hp and torque from 4500rpm - 5500 rpm!

They do claim a midrange bump in the authored portion of the article, but even the dyno chart shows that the gain is only for about a 300-400rpm span, that is not what any reasonable person means when they talk about "midrange power," every other AEM EMS tune makes gobs of midrange power over a very USEABLE broad range, where they lost hp and torque over a 1000 rpm range and made power over a 400 rpm range (if we're just talking about midrange), they somehow averaged it out to be a gain of 1-2 hp over a 2000rpm range, but the point is that the graph is different from every other AEM EMS tune'd dyno chart on this forum, it basically looks like they tuned it with a V-AFC.

One of the biggest benefits to an AEM EMS on S2000s, even on stock ones, is that you gain a lot of useable midrange power over a broad range, 300-400rpm isn't that useable even if it is at 6000-6400rpm, because in about 0.4sec you're back to almost the same power you were making before the tune.

Yeah they're the same, but the Skunk2 in this test was the dual 60mm that splits into smaller pipes (I think 50mm), it's the oldest version of the Invidia b4 they went to the 70mm dual.

Yeah, but the V1 I think was all stainless, whereas the V2 I think had titanium tips (or at least burnt tips).
