Default Importing from US to Vancouver

I have a question for those who have experiences in importing a car from US to Vancouver.

How much did you have to pay extra on top of the actual car value?

I think I have read a post before but it was Ontario I think.

I'm guessing it would be cheaper to import one than to find one in Vancouver.

I'm not in a hurry since I'm driving a different car at the moment.

But I still have an affection to the car so if possible, I would like to get back in one.

Thanks for the help guys

It will cost you between 3-5.5 thousand Canadian. With the lower end on a car bought for around 15k and the upper range at 25k.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Yes I was looking at AP2(06-) and the prices seem to be in the 20~25k range.

I'm not exactly sure yet when I can work it out though.

I'm in New York at the moment(going back soon though) and the car back in Vancouver is R56model Mini Cooper S (in Lease) so, I would have to figure out a way somehow.

May I ask one more question to anyone?

Is there a process or a method to get out of a lease?

Or a tactic to find someone to take over?

Thanks alot.

I imported mine from Florida last month, used a broker though. He took care of everything.

I've heard a lot of good things about using brokers to import cars. I imported mine myself, it's not too hard if you know what to expect.

The best point about my broker was he paid for the car, he brought it up, and once it was here the deal was take it for an inspection if you like it pay me, if you don't you can have your deposit back..., and that is the way it went. No risk really what so ever. All I did was insure the car and take it home.

I have heard that the border can be kind or cruel and you never know which you will get. A neighbour of mine imported a Miata and waited 3 weeks to get it across the border...,
