Baggs-

I am working with Mark Honkofsky. He has been a friend of mine for a very long time. I used to live down the street from there in Owings Mills. I'll be there on Saturday picking her up. Did you pay MSRP?? What salesperson did you use? Did they hook you up with any extras? How did they deliver your car? Any problems?? Thanks,

I got mine in Fredericksburg, VA - it had 4.2 miles before I got in it - the salesmen at this dealer were also not allowed to drive them...

Possible with 40+ miles that it had either been test-driven there or was a dealer-swap car and had been test-driven at the dealer of "origin" - look at the corner of the window sticker and see what dealer it had been originally shipped to...43 miles isn't that much, and doubtful any salesman would ever allow a potential customer to VTech in the thing!

The cars are moved around from the factory in Tochigi to a storage lot at the plant, onto a truck which then takes them to another storage lot at the docks, then into a container, onto the ship, then out of the container at the receiving dock, to a storage lot at customs, then onto a truck, then to the Honda storage lot in San Diego, then onto another truck, to your dealer, to their lot and maybe into the showroom, then back to their lot again, then the pre delivery and testing and finally delivery to you.

If this is a dealer swap, add 20-30 miles!

I am surprised that Unicron's car only had 4 miles on it! You can easily gain 4-10 miles on the car just with the 'moving around' the car does. Remember, if you drive the car back and forth 10 times over 100 metres, that's one whole Kilometer, or 6/10th of a mile!

My car had 9 miles on it when I got it. I wouldn't stress about it if your car has 40 miles!

Silver, Mark helped me too. He was great through the whole process. I got mine for MSRP no questions asked. He also told me if I ever want any aftermarked accessories that he could get me very good pricing. Overall the best buying experience I've had getting a car and I am sure that you will agree since you are working with Mark as well. Good luck and let me know how things go.

Don't feel too bad. I leased my car and it had 189 miles on it when I got it. It may have had the ever-lovin squat driven out of it, I don't know; however, I observed the requisite break-in period and she's run like a top ever since.

Mine had 5 miles on it when I took delivery Monday. I asked the dealer not to touch it when it came off the truck and they didn't. When I arrived at the dealer the car was covered in the shipping stickers and the interior was totally covered in plastic. No way they test drove that puppy!

This was kind of funny. When the I went for a test drive after all the shipping material was removed the salesman was trying to talk me into getting on it. I told him no way that I wasn't exceeding 5500 rpms until at least 600 miles had passed because that was proper break-in procedure. He said really because the first s2000 they got in each salesperson at the dealer took turns taking it out to "see what it could do." I told him that's why I didn't want them to touch the car until I came to pick it up. I'm not saying this to scare any of you who took delivery with higher mileage, I just wanted to share my story.

My car was a dealer swap from Monterey to Sunnyvale California and when I got it, it had 8 miles on it. I'm not sure how that is possible but they did truck it in from the dealer in Monterey to my dealer. My sales guy said that they would usually just drive a dealer trade car [like an Accord or a Civic or whatever if it is within a few hundred miles] but they don't do that with the S2K's.

I like being on the top of the food chain at the Honda dealer [that isn't saying much really but it still is nice to get treated well].

One of the Honda dealer I went to when I was shopping for my s2k said I didn't rev the engine hard enough for the test drive... whatever that means. I didn't really drive it that hard because I was thinking about getting that very same car right after (ended up not doing it)... Don't know who got that car now...
