Improving the stock exhaust?
Hi guys
What im actually thinking is actually making a straight pipe for the mid section of the exhaust, so it doesnt involve cutting the stock exhaust coupled with a test pipe.
I would probably coat the pipes with some thermal coating called cerachrome. So hope everything goes well.
Will try this in the next few weeks or so.
I'll post what happens

Im thinking of...
1) having the test pipe installed
2) replacing the piping and the little muffler box after the test pipe before the Y bend with a single straight pipe (and yes ive researched the so called Weiner or the helmotz stuff)
Still not clear?

I'm not hacking anything the stock exhaust will stay unharmed.
All i will do is add a straighter pipe without the muffler box and couple that with an after market test pipe
Here is a picture of what I intend to actually replace when I mean straight pipe without the muffler box:

yes ok thats clear
a lot of people cut off the resonator (the dead end pipe) and weld in a straight pipe. This doesn't do much, if anything, for performance, but it will alter the sound and make it a more raspy

Are you doing it yourself or having someone do it. If yourself, you will save money. If having someone do it, I think it would only be a few hundred more to get a full exhaust of some sort.
Since noise is not an issue, I'd do the reverse. Keep the stock midpipe but lose the mufflers. Replacing them with either duals or a single will yield better overall performance from the modest WHP gain and the weight loss.
FWIW; I'm running a OEM midpipe with a pair of Toda titanium/stainless N1 mufflers.
