I've just replaced my front tyres at 18,000 miles.
Across 3/4 of the tyre the tread was fine, but on the inside (i.e nearest the engine) of the tyres, they had gone bald.

Is it normal to get such uneven wear?

I got the tracking cheched, and they said it was fine.

My garage said it was normal for the wear to occur, but I can't really see that this is true as I'm sure Honda would want all the type contacting the road evenly.

I have one front tire that has severe waear on the inside but the other is fine. Alignment is all-important and it's important to know that the factory does NOT set the alignment the same - just within the acceptable limits. Some folks have reported nearly 1/2" (12mm) rear toe-in while mine was under 1/4" (6mm). In fact my first alignment indicated that I should have had it set when I picked the car up - it would have produced significantly less wear.

Inside wear indicates either excessive toe OUT (racers like to use this to help turn-in but chews the bejeezus out of the inside of the tire in nothing flat) or excessive negative camber (the stock setting is -0.5 deg. but racers use as much as -2 deg. in the front). Get the printout of the settings and have the alignment set for the middle of the stock setting range for best tire wear...

My car had the same problem. The inside front was totally screwed while the outer part was practically new.
The garage said, and I actually saw it myself that the the front wheels were 1 degree out.

What a price to pay!

Excessive wear is not normal. Have a Honda dealer or a garrage you trust check it out.
I had terrible wear on the inside of my fronts after only 5000 miles after having a garrage install and "align" my tires. Didn't even know it until my Honda dealer pointed it out to me during an oil change. They re-aligned it for free. Turns out the garrage's "alignment" was off by ELEVEN degrees! Needless to say, I'm not going back to that garrage.

I think this is normal for the S2000. I've done two track events and have almost 7,000 street miles so far. The insides of both fronts are showing more wear than the rest of the tire but it is not excessive. When the insides start showing cords, the rest of the tire will be beyond its useful life anyway.

Your just not turning fast enough to evenly wear the tires.
