Not to be mean but how is that better than any other one off the street? Such as RM's intake.
Our stock box at least was shielded and was a cold air intake or at least close as you can get to the real thing.
Curriosity hits me.

I too have the Injen, and as much as I hate to admit it, I think you guys a right.
I love the sound, but the fluctuation of power that the car produces based on a few degrees change in temperature is unbelievable.
In the cold, its nice (which is almost never down here). But in the hot, it feels sluggish. I love the sound, and the look is great, but I believe that it is losing power.
Here is my dilemma. I wasted money on something that is counter-productive. I don't just want to throw it out. Is there any way I can use the K&N filter it came with inside the stock airbox. I know I will have to modify/cut it, but is there any chance it will fit. That way, it will be an improved K&N with the stock CAI setup.
One more idea: How about I run a hose/pipe to it from the nose like the RM Racing one? Would that help?

pnty drpr, sorry to hear that you think you wasted some cake on this intake. It looks similar to the RM intake that I have thought was a bad design the first time I saw it. That said, I think you have a couple of options. But first, the bottom line is to move the filter to a place that is not next to the two biggest heat sources, the radiator and the engine block.
So what I was thinking is that you can fashion a continuation of the intake tube and run it somewhere into the area in front of the wheel well on the passenger side. Or do like the Mugen intake and run some sort of tunnel or passageway over the radiator into the fascia. It's a tough call and neither would be cheap...but it would solve the problem.
Or you could make a chandelier out of the whole thing and hang it in your garage...?
The MG Racing intake is being tested in Italy right now...I'll be posting more about it in the coming weeks. It will be an all carbon fiber piece at about 600 dollars. And a plastic version with the look of carbon fiber for about 1/2 of that...stay tuned for more on that.
Good luck, pnty drpr, I would be interested in finding out what you do...

Spoon has a setup similar to Mugen for cold air intake and it fits onto the stock box!
HTH.
