I don't understand the purpose these hood dampers serve. They seem like the latest craze though?

The idea, at least for my interest, is that they can hold the hood up without the prop rod. While they advertise making lifting easier because of hood size and weight, since our hoods are aluminum and while being long, not very wide, weight isn't particularly an issue, but it gets the prop rod out of the way for holding the hood up. My question is, since I can't see the pics here, I went to the seller's site and saw that they stretch along the length of the hood kinda reverse compared to the hood. This seems odd to me since most cars with hood dampers from the factory mount a few inches up from the hood hinge and hold it that way. What's with the reverse here? Anyone have dampers that mount the other way?

My CF hood would flex too much for my liking if I used the hood prop in the stock location. So I was using the hood prop in the latch area (center) to hold the hood open. Unfortunatly that makes the hood sit too low to get any work done (for example, you can't remove the oil dipstick with the hood sitting so low.)

Works great now, just pop the hood and lift higher than it went with the hood prop in the stock location.

The pressure may be to much and I will have to reverse them. Only time will tell.
