Has anyone done it on this or other cars? I'm considering SPA Design gauges for oil pressure and temp, water temp and rpm shift light. I had a quick look at the dealer CDROM and, for instance, the stock oil pressure sensor attaches to a 1/8in, 28 steps/inch thread.

Is this some sort of a standard? If not, how would I go about installing aftermarket gauge sensors? Also, what is the likelyhood of having compatible signals from the sensors (stock and A/M) that I could splice?

Thanks for any help.

I have in the past used a T-fitting to allow an additional sending unit while retailing the original. The technique can work for both oil and water, but I have not looked carefully at our car. I would guess clearance is as much a problem as anything else. Have you decided on a gauge location?

I can't answer the technical questions, but I can say "yes" someone (me) has done this - or I should say, had this done.

Those are Air/Fuel, Boost, and EGT...I don't know the magic behind them.

Very cool, was thinking of the same thing, but I wanted it along the left side. Lemme know if you get this done. Especially the shift lite.

Defi makes decent gauges.. Also look at Greddy, Hks, Apexi.
mount your gauges on a A-pillar.. they look way cool..

Are these T-fittings standard? Or do they have to be made to order?

The gauges will go in the headunit location or not at all.

I really don't remember where I got them (was an install back in '88) but it seems like they where just simple plumbing that was properly threaded. Kind of an small extention to the oil path with sensers at the end.

I did a quick search and found this example (scroll down for the oil pressure install)..

Thanks Chris. People I talked to around here say it's an easy job.

I am considering either this:

Or a couple of these:

measuring oil pressure & temperatue, water temperature & voltage

and a shift light (this would go on the a-pillar, good for peripheral vision):

This one is 100mm x 75mm x 20mm and may fit in a modified driver sun shade.

Stupid idea ?
