Prices are all over. Keep in mind that this is one of the most expensive vehicles to insure. ISO symbol for this car is a 24, out of a possible 26-27. Plus it is a convertible. I don't think the quote you got is unreasonable, but prices also vary widely state to state.

do a search on this dude. many threads have discussed.

insurance has 500 variables that decide your rates. you cannot compare any two people and come up with the same rate.

age/location/zipcode/driving history/car/values/coverages/marriage status/modifications/miles per year/insurance history/credit/multi policy discount/years with same carrier/other drivers/multi vehicle discount/etc
= just SOME of the differences from every policy.

i am 26 , clean record in 10 years, good 100/300 bi/pd coverages 200/500 deductibles, san diego, single - i pay $1001 a year for my brand new 2005.

only way to tell if your rate is fair is to call every insurance company in your town and comparison shop. you are young (5 yrs history) driving a high powered car. i would say 1300 is a deal, but you probably also have crappy coverage. raise your limits.
also you have nothing stating where you live, so that doesnt help. but 1300 in Socal for a guy your age is good.

don't always go for the cheapest rate. You want someone who will HELP you when you have a claim, not dick you over.

I have USAA. They are not the cheapest many times, but they are the best. They are technically not-for-profit, so their goals are to service members, not make a buck. Of course they try to cut costs, but not as bad as all the others. USAA is open to the military or dependents/spouses of existing members.

I pay 990 a year for full coverage, and Im only 18

I guess it helps when my parents have been using the same insurance company for 40+ years though.

you can typically get a better rate if you're on your parents policy.

1300/yr is a damned good deal for a 21 year old IMO. I am 24, last speeding ticket was over 3 years ago, and my best quote so far has been $1378/year.. although I hope it will drop considerably in 7 mo when I turn 25
