Default Insurance question

I'm picking up a 2005 S2000 and was wondering what would be most cost effective for insurance. I'm a 24 yr old male in the Bay Area. We currently have a family plan with Geico. Would it be cheaper if I put my super old father as a primary driver instead? This car is only going to be a weekend car as I work from home.

Dunno, when I was still covered on my parents insurance I was excluded from their cars to keep the insurance rates down.

Cut the cord and grow up man, you're 24, pay for your own sh!t using your own name and driving record.

Only reason i have my s2k and is because im on my parents business insurance. Considered a company car. I pay 180 a month full coverage. They looked up how much it would by on my own, they want like (450 a month) more than my car payment. Im 21 and have accident free record, and 1 careless driving ticket (not wreckless, but careless).

Might as well be living in their basement while you're at it.

You can get in trouble if you do that (even though they would most likely never find out)

I'm 23 with Geico and have everything: 100k/300k, uninsured motorist, rental, etc... and I pay $106 per month on the S2000... no biggie bro.

So blunt but so true.

If anything was to happen to the car, it would be your super old father that would deal with whatever needs to be dealt with since he is the primary. I would hate to put that burden on him just to save a couple of hundred in 6 months. To me, it feels good to have everything under my name.

I am paying for my own things. In fact, I pay for insurance for my WHOLE family.

That is cheap. Are you under a family policy or did you get your own insurance? Geico quoted me an extra $3,000/yr full coverage for the addition of the S2k.
