Default intake discoloring

i have an amuse style vented cf hood, and a polished aem v1 intake. when i was checking my oil the other day i looked down and noticed that the intake right under the vent was turning a brassy color, almost looked like it was tarnish. but where the intake runs along towards the bottom of the car was still silver, even though its still under the vent. somehow only the top piece of the intake was affected. does anyone know what caused this? ( well ill assume that it was from the vent draining on the intake) but more importantly, is there anything i can use to bring the intake back to its original color?

Blue magic aluminum and chrome polish in the can is the best thing I have found for cleaning anything of this nature. Also that waddin stuff in the can, I think it is Never Dull or something like that, works great also.
