Default Intake noise

I was poking around under the hood of my 2002 with it running and heard a strange noise comming from the stock air box. Sounds like an electrical whine. Is this one of the noises that every one talks about from the stock airbox?

just a suggestion...

take the top off and see if there's anything stuck inside. if not, just put the top back on, and search for what you posted about.

Let me guess...it's more like a hummmming noise, its gets louder when you remove the lid of the air box? That'a normal.

It's normal - if you take off the stock airbox, it will be even louder.

Thanks guys, it is like a humming noise. By the way, when I put on a CAI, will this get louder?

If it's not the warm up noise you are hearing (which does not come from the intake anyway), then putting on a CAI will make it more noticeable - even from inside the car... Suggestion - check out someone else car - including one with a CAI.

I just installed the Injen HAI in my car and it pretty much killed that stock intake hum all together. It was kind of strange, with lid off of the stock air box the hum was so loud people wanted to know if something was wrong with my car (not bloody likely) but now with an aftermarket intake the hum is so faint you need to lean over the filter to hear it. Kinda odd.

PS: I don't like the Injen HAI, I dont know what I was thinking. Come spring time I will be purchasing the AEM CAI and dodging anything that looks like standing water.

Dont even worry about the water with either of CAI's. injen or aem. i have the injen and the brake ducts open and have no problems at all. of course i dont drive through puddles, but the filter is not exposed, it site behind the bumper in a safe place.
by the way, the noise actually becomes a pretty high pichted whistle, but not really noticeable.
