Yup, stock filter. Replacing it with a K&N or JR may gain you 2 to 4 HP but leaving the top off will help you lose them and then some.

To be honest, with the lid on changing the filter will not increase the sound. The only way to get that deep tone, is to take the air box lid off with no need in changing air filter. You MIGHT lose a little hp (on a dyno) but if you are at speeds the loses should be minimal.

I'd like to add to this.
It is said that you will lose 1 HP for every 3 degrees rise in intake temp. During city driving, the underhood temps can get up to as high as 70*C. If our car's HP is rated on a bench dyno, at more or less ambient temps of say ...... 20*C. Then you are looking at an elvation of 50 Centigrad degrees. That would be equivalent to a loss of 15 HP. Do you think you would notice this? If you don't, then no big deal. "Lid off" away. Me? I'll keep those 15 HP, thanks.

I think it was around 3. You won't notice the difference unless its a hot day and your car experiences heat soak. On a cool night, should make little to no difference. The problem is that with the air box off you are drawing in hot air from the engine. Also the OEM airbox is designed to draw and concentrate the colder air and prevent heat soak.
