Talking Intake Questions

Just for fun, I decided to take off my airbox cover - wow, what an intoxicating noise! If I purchased an intake would my car sound similar?

I would purchase an intake primarily for the sound as performance gains seem rather minimal. With that in mind, what are the best sounding intakes? I'm leaning towards an AEM v2. What's the best place to purchase one?

If I do purchase an AEM v2 I would be a little concerned about hydrolock. For those of you that have a v2, have you created anything to shield the filter from dripping water? I remember hearing about someone who fashioned an umbrella from a milk carton. What are some other solutions? Thanks everyone!

Jim

And you need to plug the holes in the rain gutter under the hood.

The AEM V2 sounds nice under WOT and makes the motor sound much deeper from 4k-up. It doesn't have any type of whistling noise that you usually have from an intake, it sounds good. As Xviper said, just plug the rain channel hole on the passenger side fender under the hood with a rubber grommet and your set.

I don't show off my engine bay. I could care less what it looks like. It just has to work. I do what I do out of need. That plant pot needs tape to hold it in that shape. I need the plant pot to keep the water that comes through the vent in the CF hood from going into the filter.
That rust you see on the cross member is a hole I had to drill to install the original Vortech airbox. Having removed it, I just haven't taken care of it. It hasn't gotten any bigger, so I'm not worried about it. If you're referring to the spots on the fender, that's reflected light.
I can be anal retentive about some things, but these are not some of them.

Thanks for all of the opinions, guys. Flower pot seems like a great way to protect the filter. Can anyone else speak up which intake sounds the best? Of course there have probably been threads discussing this before, but search doesn't work...
