Arrow Intake Vote...

Alright,

So I'm at a crossroads...

I have no real plans for any serious engine mods in the future...

I have owned AEM Cold Air Intakes on both my '93 Integra GSR and my '00 Civic Si...

I liked the sound and throttle response, but don't know if that's what I want on my S2k...

I like the asthetic value of the AUT cooling plate, and the SAFETY of just a K+N drop-in (vs. possible hydrolock with the AEM)... I would do a little dremeling of the Stock airbox as well...

So what would you do?

AEM-- $260ish
AUT w/ K+N-- $225 or so...

Gary, I hope you don't mind me using your picture below....

Anyone ever dynoed the AUT / K+N setup??

It probably wouldn't shoe much unless you were blowing air into the front, eh?

Obviously, it would be better than stock, right?

Thats what i did, got the gurage defend plate with a K&N drop in. More power ...not really. Better throttle response...yes. I got the plate mainly for heat soak, as i live in the deep south. Hope this helps

well. at highway speeds the cf plate seems to help a bit. i have the the cf plate and it looks cool and helps with heat soak. i want to get the kn filter as well. the kn filter improves throttle response and adds probably 1 hp at most (not 100% sure). that is what most people say

You take more risk putting a cold air intake on that car...It's not worth the rumored extra horsepower and noise. I got a comptech because it actually takes measures to REDUCE the added noise. Plus the alternative setup just looks slick, and everyone's mother, uncle, and dentist is running a cold air intake.

I dont like the V2 cuz of the HUGE up-angle at the filter. That thing probably holds TONS of water. I have an INJEN RS intake. It doesnt bend up like that. It actually either is level, or even slightly downwards. I havent had any problem with mine. Just make sure that you plug the drain hole if you get the V2. I also installed an AEM bypass valve and made a rain bonnet.

Good luck. Just research the hydrolock issue before making a purchase.

If your concern is only power, go with AEM.

im sure since you live in florida, hydrolock will be an issue to keep in mind.

i loved my v2 when i had it on, and plan on going back to it really soon. the sound, and butt-dyno feel/throttle response is not as close as a K&N.

but hey, its better to be safe than sorry. its up to you.

Aem V2 and plug your drain hole on your passenger side fender and you will be fine.
