Default interstate rpms

what is an okay rpm range to drive on the interstate for medium to long interstate travel, like 30-45 mins or more? like where it is okay for the engine to keep that pace?

I don't think there's a standard number that is best.

the lower the better in theory. In the S though, that's not possible. I ususally stay at about 4500 which is 80mph. There have been some issues in the 00-01 and early 02s with oil starvation at very high RPMs (like on the autobahn). Honda updated the bottom end with 4-hole oil jet bolts.

BTW, I installed the updated banjo bolts awhile back.

Just put it in 6th and worry about your speed, not rpms.

yeah thats one thing im really worried about with highway crusing --> high constant revs.

i know the S2k motor is built to rev high, but what kind of fuel consumption occurs at around 4000-4500 rpm? having an auto civic with revs at 3400revs at about 80mph seems high to me... heh.

I get 28-30 mpg at 4000-4500 rpm. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you forget to shift and cruise at 7k rpm or something, you're prob not doing the engine a bit of harm.

Agreed. If I'm over 60 and not maneuvering or in heavy traffic, I'm in 6th.

thanks, that puts that engine strain question to rest. i figured it'd be able to take it, i know it's a whole lot different having sucha high revving engine at 4k, than having some 6k engine at 4k. thanks guys
