Inventory backlog of the S?
Anybody happen to know what the average inventory time is for the S on dealer lots? I'm looking for something like "Hummer H2, 13 days from production to sale," like below:
Thanks,
A typical indication of vehicle popularity is days-to-turn, which measures how many days on average it takes to sell vehicles after they arrive at dealerships. In February, the newly introduced models averaged 36 days-to-turn, while the industry average was 64 days. Of the new introductions, Buick Terraza moved the fastest at 21 days, followed by Mercury Montego and Chrysler 300 at 24 and 25 days, respectively. Dodge Magnum has the highest days-to-turn, 62, while Pontiac G6 takes 48 days and the Hyundai Tucson takes 42 days, on average.
I don't know what the average is, but I believe that the median (central value in an ordered array) for the time an S sits on the lot would provide a more useful comparison because of the wide differences for various dealers and by season of the year. Time on the lot might be five days in S. California during the Summer and 100 days in N. Dakota in early Winter. The effect of a few times that are markedly different from most (out-liers) will be minimized using medians instead of means and would likely provide more useful information. I apologize in advance, but couldn't resist the opportunity for a statistics lessen.
