Default Its SAD to see ppl bought the S2000 as a drag car

just go ahead read the street encounter forum and you will be suprised how many ppl bought this car to drag race in the street

I hope they know they were abusing their cars by constanty launching their car at 6k+ RPM, and this car is not meant to be driven like that.

I don't know anyone who bought the car with the intention of buying a drag car but I do know people love this car so much and enjoy driving it and we have such limited options for driving it the way it was meant to be driven,
We all know this car just begs to be stretched and between safety and laws, drag racing is one of the few outlets a driver has short of doing a track event but these are expensive and few and far between.

I find myself tempted on a daily basis while cruising to engage other like minded drivers to a friendly dual of speed but the few times I have I felt like I should know better because I have preached to several people to keep it on the track and off the street, It is a dilemma that I face every time I get in this car.

That's my .02

I routinely take it up to 100mph on highways at 2am when playing with my friends. I only do that when there are no other cars AND cops around. I dont feel guilty because I'm not being a danger to anyone else but me.

The only thing that keeps the S from being a drag car is money. People regularly fix up civics (just about any year) accords, integras, preludes for drag racing, as well as other "non-drag racing cars". If this car could hit low 13s lightly modded, i gurantee more people would be out on the drag strip/street racing them.

If they can make a civic run 10's i don't see the problem in someone trying to run it in an S.

There is an avid street racer in our area who drives a silver s2k hrere in Vancouver. All he does is street racing, and he brags about everything, such as his car being faster than stock with his Magnaflow muffler etc. Whether what he says is true is up to you to decide.

Anyway, he definately bought the wrong car as he was worried his car would lose to the Neon SRT, and was going to get NOS just because of that. He says he can chirp tires and he's a great racer etc. Seriously, anyone who can't chirp Kumhos should consider driving automatic cars.

Why you CAN make Civics into drag cars, I think there are other factors that make it more reasonable to do so:

1. Cheaper to buy.
2. Available motors to swap out
3. Lower reving motors

What this adds up to is a car that can be launched and abused and put back together pretty cheaply. Of course you can make an S2k into a drag car, but to do it "right" you have to replace the diff, the clutch, and then spend $$$ to get the motor to go much faster than stock.

IF I wanted to drag race an import, I would sooner get a $5000 Civic, do a motor swap, and be in a decent car before I spent the money for even a used s2k.

Of course, if I wanted to drag race I would buy a firebird or a camero and start tweaking on THAT.

Exactly, the only thing keeping most people from running a drag s2k is money.

Most are fine with their track based car, but others want a fast s2k in the 1/4 mile, but don't want to spend the money to achieve that so they're left complaining. You can make any car fast, just depends on your wallet.
