I've had it...
Thanks for all the help guys.
Lets say that my clutch wasn't replaced 6,000 miles ago. Would it make sense for it to start working better once it cooled off outside? It seems like if a clutch were to go bad it just simply wouldn't correct itself because of changing weather conditions. I could be wrong but i'm just trying to eliminate some options right now.
Now I'm concerned about the condition of my clutch. More than one mechanic has told me that it's probably slipping based on how I described my problem. Also, my clutch pedal has also started to feel very rough over the last couple months and the do it your self techniques I found on here haven't done a bit of good. Does the condition of your pedal correspond with the clutch itself? Or are those two completely separate?

once the clutch goes, it doesn't matter how cold or hot outside is, it will continuously slip.
i would compression test, change the spark plugs, get a dyno to see what your afr is.
that and replace your air filter.

Shanky, it's pretty easy to tell when the clutch is starting to slip, so maybe you could get another S2000 owner in your area to drive your car and see if that's what's happening. If it's not the clutch, and you're not sure of the car's service history, then change the air filter and plugs, run a compression and leak down test while the plugs are out, and try to get a feel for the general condition of the engine. Also consider having the retainers inspected (do a search on "over rev" or "money shift" for more information).
Trying to diagnose something like this on the internet is near impossible, and your problem could be anything from a clogged air filter to clogged injectors or a bad clutch. Lacking a CEL and code, it's best to start with the basic stuff; If compression is OK and the plugs and air filter are OK, then we'll have to look elsewhere.
Have you tried the so called "map whack?" (Search if you don't know what that is.)

I really do need to take it somewhere to have the problem diagnosed. Can I have most of these tests done on a dyno? Compression, leak down test, etc...?
And yes MX, I have done the map whack. That didn't cure the problem so I changed the map sensor. That also didn't cure the problem.
Also, I guess I can rule out the fact that it's my clutch going bad. The problem comes and goes far too often, and like you guys said if it was on it's last leg it would be slipping constantly.

You don't even need a dyno to do compression and leak down tests. Just a compression tester, and an assistant or a remote starter. It's something that can be done easily while changing the spark plugs.
Whether you have it done or do it yourself, record the compression values and keep them for future reference.

When you guys turn the key to the ACC position (I think thats what its called) does your fan come on? I met a guy yesterday with a 2000 s2k and I was explaining my problem to him when he noticed that mine came on before starting the engine. He claims that is unusual and that there may be something wrong with my radiator.
What do you guys think about that?

Maybe nothing, the fan comes on when the A/C is on. And usually the fan switch for tempiture is different than the ECU temp sensor. Not that I know the S2000 is wired this way.
Speaking of which does having the A/C on effect the problem?

It been too long since it was running really bad to remember, but I wanna say it did run worse when my AC was on. I remember turning off my AC alot last summer with hopes that it would run better. Could be wrong though...
