Default J D Power 2005 S2000

J D Power 2005 S2000 ratings here
http://www.jdpower.com/cc/auto/ratings/pvs...ge=301&vid=709#

The one that suprised me was the three stars for performance. "Doesn't stand out"

Which new owners would say that? Not too many who post to this forum. Part of the problem might be that expectation levels are really high for this car. Be interested in other reactions.

I'd wager the guys who post here are more fanatical about the car than the typical owner though.

Your link doesn't work for me. When I look up the 2005 S2000, I see a "no data" for performance...

I see that the "performance" evaluation decreased as the S2000 model years get later, startng in 2004.

Perhaps with the recent introduction of new models such as the Boxster and other comparable cars, with improved performance, the availability of other "performance cars" in the price range, and the Lotus Elise coming to the US, the S2000 is no longer a stand out in the market place on performance in the eyes of the public?

Perhaps all of the hype among earlier s2000 owners about the decrease in the RPM red line and the softening of the suspension in the 2004+ MY has created the perception that the S2000 is not still a stand out in performance?

As I recall, JD Power asks about acceleration in this section. It is probably people complaining about the low end torque. If that is all they care about, they bought the wrong car.

If you compare it to other $32,000 niche performance cars it doesn't really stand out- it's not really any faster than a STi or an EVO. Maybe that's what they mean.
