Just picked up the car with the new Js N1 exhaust installed. Here are my first impressions:

You have to hear this thing live, the clips do not do justice.

With the silencer on, the exhaust sounds pretty good at all speeds (rattling tip: Ben Schaeffer's Auto Import installed it with two bolts and rattling is not there).

Take the silencer off and this thing scares you. It is as if you woke up a monster. It is VERY LOUD between 3-5K RPM. This part is a bit much for me (I am getting too old I guess).

Go into VTEC and the exhaust transforms this car! The sound is amazing! You feel like you are in a race car.

The best part is that the car feels settled only when at VTEC. I definitely think there is more power with this exhaust. I never felt VTEC so smooth, I found myself staying in 2nd and 3rd longer to keep VTEC going. The agressiveness of VTEC goes away and you enter this smooth zone. I can not wait to take the S2000 to the track. This is definitely a racing exhaust.

I am not sure if I will keep the exhaust for the long run though. It is too extreme for me. Oh the dilemma ...

These were my impressions EXACTLY! Except that I've grown accustomed to the sound even during regular driving, however, my trips are generally very short since I live so close to work.

You can't beat the sound of VTEC with this exhaust!

restonS2000,

I just came back from the Texas World Speedway...people were telling me that the exhaust sounded good when gunning it down the strait away.

It was so loud that the instructor and I had to scream at each other in the car.

I could not stand it the first couple days...but I have gotten use to it and would rather not have the silencer on (I didn't buy it anyway).

Were you not getting along with your instructor again?

You all talk about this silencer, how easy is it to remove and replace and does the tips come with this exhaust or do you have to use your factory ones or what? I've never really looked at this car underneath so I don't know what to expect.

It's very easy to install/remove the silencer. It takes about a minute, but you need two 10mm wrenches. One to hold the nut, and the other to turn the bolt to tighten/loosen. The tips come compl ete with the exhaust. You can't remove them. The silencer inserts into the tip of the exhaust.
I've only used my silencer the one time, after drilling the hole on the tip and trying it on. Now, unfortunately, I set off alot of car alarms wherever I go

Thanks, I really don't mind load exhausts, My '87 GT Mustang had 2-1/2" duels w/headers, no cat, 40 series Flowmasters with 2x6" oval tips out the side, so I guess you could say it was LOAD

The silencer is a separate piece that slides in. They supply one bolt. By drilling a second bolt, the rattling reported by some users goes away.
