Anyone have experience with K2 Motors? They have an engine damper for $50.00. Not sure how much quality matters this item. Any thoughts?

They both do the same thing, and neither one does it better than the other. Just pick the one you like either based on color or price.
How did you come to this conclusion???

Do you know the spring rates for the J's and the NRG engine dampers? What type and weight of oil is used? Details of the internal damping system?

I'd like to get this info, but haven't found it anywhere.

Spring rates? Oil weight used? Do you honestly believe that there is a difference? They are both made to supposedly reduce the engine vibration while under acceleration. So if both do this job, therefore translating into smoother shifting etc...why would any of that matter (meaning oil weight, spring rate etc)? Any small difference would barely be noticed...its already hard to notice any gains with the ETD installed as is...

No experience with K2 Motors.

Quality is extremely important with regard to the engine damper.

If the damper is too stiff, it will shake the crap out of the car until stuff starts coming loose, and the excessive vibration could be extremely annoying.

If the damper is too loose, it would be ineffective, and a waste of money.

If the damper is improperly mounted, it could cause inappropriate flexing of the drivetrain leading to premature failure of motor mounts, U-joints, etc.

Be careful when buying cheap parts. Sometimes they can cost you more in the long run.

I do have a question for you Kodokan, I dono if you know this or not. Can you adjust the dampening on the J's ETD? Or is it set no matter what you do?

Do you honestly believe AC Delco shocks perform the same as Ohlins???

They are both made to supposedly reduce the loss of traction of the car. So if both do this job, therefore translating into smoother ride etc...why would any of that matter (meaning oil weight, spring rate etc)? Any small difference would barely be noticed...

I'm confused because you wrote that it's hard to notice any gains with the ETD

Which engine damper are you running?

What type of gains are you looking for?

I noticed HUGE gains! It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

There is no spring or oil inside a J's damper. It's a nylon sleeve inside a aluminium outer housing, with a steel rod in the middle of the nylon.

Take one apart, there isn't much to it.

Does anyone have a pic of the NRG or simalar engine damper fitted? Im about to fit mine and it doesnt seem obvious on where to attach it the engine side. Im guessing the other plate mounts to the suspension strut bolts.

Thanks
J's ETD

What provides the tension? Does the nylon sleeve make a pneumatic seal?

If it's compressed, does it return to position, or it just stay where it is?

The engine torquing effect must be way up there in terms of foot-pounds. I don't understand how the nylon sleeve can make enough resistance sliding in the aluminum tube? Were you able to remove the sleeve from the tube, or move it at all?

I guess it couldn't be like a shock, or it would rebound.
