Default J's Style Hood + K&N FIPK

Quick questions. I already have K&N FIPK on my car and I'm interested in getting a J's Style Hood. Should I be concerned about the possibility of the air filter getting wet when its raining or washing a car? I'm not really sure how big the openings are on the hood, but the air filter is exposed (no lid) so I'm thinking depending on the location and size of the openings, it could possibly get wet?

Thanks

type S or type V? the openings on both look to be about where the filter would be mounted..

S

V

It would be the type S... I don't know if the manufacture makes any difference (in terms of possibilities of air filter getting wet) or not, but it's made by Seibon.

Yes, the vent would be directly over the exposed filter. You'd need to block off a portion of the vent.

Which one would be easier: 1) Block off a portion of the vent or 2) Fabricate an umbrella over the air filter?

I just leave my filter under the vent. It'll give you a little more performance. When it rains I just get some hi-temp duct tape and cover the 2 vents.

Do you use the duct tape everytime it rains?

my car sits in the garage for the week and comes out on the weekend so it doesn't see rain much to begin with. The tape is more so for when I get caught in a rain storm.

When I say storm I mean a storm...a light rain isn't going to harm anything. If you are driving at speed chances are no rain will get in anyway no matter how hard it is coming down.
