J's Tsuchinoko install problems
Ok ive read and read on this site before I picked up my J's Tsuchinoko intake that the front of the engine bay hood needs to be cut. I cut it out. But the F&%@er still wont close. It appears that the air chamber is hitting the hood and requires to be trimed as well, which means I will loose the stock hood support mount hole.
Without my knowledge, my mechanic trimmed that section as well and still we are having issues with the hood closing. When I went back we tried messing around with the hood latch and rubber mounts, but still having issues. You have to quite firmly press down on the hood to close it and even then it still feels like the air duct is touching the hood (there is a grease line which keeps rubbing off onto the air duct).
Has anyone had similar issues and what do I do now to fix it?

Tsuchinoko air chamber hits my hood also but I didn't trim it.
Previous owner (I got it used) told me I will have to close my hood that way after installation. My mechanic confirmed that.

It wouldnt close without trming it, not even forefully. It would buldge at exactly the chamber high point almost 1" if we managed to get the hood closed.
Maybe you should check again the position of the snorkle inlet.
In my car there was a protection bar in front of the radiator which had to be removed for the snorkle's installation, but I think US AP1s don't have this.

I didnt do any of the installation so I will have to revert back and see what was done.
Im not in the market for an aftermarket hood. I prefer the stock look with everything else inside
