No difference I dont think except for that the JDMs projectors shine to the right side of the road rather than the left due to different Japanese driving

It is the other way around. The JDM headlights shine to the left because they drive on the left side of the road. So if you install JDM headlights in a US car (where we drive on the right side of the road), you will blind the drivers of the cars going in the opposite direction.

There is more to it than that.

The projectors are actually different. JDM projectors are just like e-code (euro) projectors, they are much brighter however allow no overhead light above the cutoff line.

USDM projectors have a less abrupt line and allow some overhead light.

What does this translate to: if you have the JDM projectors and you are driving on the highway, the signs overhead will not be illuminated at all. These projectors are ideal for city/town driving they focus all the light on the road since euro/japanese roads are very well lit.

Now to address the beam pattern issue. This can be very simplely corrected. You just need to flop/switch the glare shield inside the projector. You have to open the housing up. I've done this many times.

I will post a writeup when I put e-code projectors in my S with documented pictures.

Regards,
Luke

But if you have to open up the JDM housing anyway, then why not just take a USDM stock headlight and open it up and replace the diffuser with the clear/smoke ones from Rick? Wouldn't that be simpler without having to deal with the socket and mounting issues? Granted, you don't get 100% of the effect of the JDM housing, but it is close.
