Default JDM spec interior, what is this?

What is that in the center of the dash? Sorry for the newbie post, but i've never seen that on a dash before. Its a JDM AP1 s2000, but i dont recall the US spec car's having something in the dash in that spot...what the heck is it? Its apparently bone stock...?

Thanks kindly, sorry if this is a repost!

If I'm not mistaken it's the (JDM only) navi option!

yep, that is the Navi option, you can buy the JDM Nav Bezel and do this to a left hand drive but the Bezel doesn't fit quite right. do a search for Nav's and you can see for yourself

well son of a gun, the JDM options are always WAY better than ours! That was an AP1 in the pic, nav systems were not even as big of a thing as they are today! I cant believe they got it, and got it SO long ago. I wonder if they ever made any RHD nav. screens for the rest of the world (Germany, ext.)

I will totally search this, thanks kindly for the info!

I don't need navi, if I get lost it's just more time spent driving my car They do always get better options than us, like type-R's...

nav system was implemented in cars in Japan VERY long time ago. Go there for once and you'll see how advanced their technology is
