John Lingenfelter Dead!
Oh my God! Just last night I was wondering about him! I've been trying to keep up with his recovery but I haven't heard anything lately. I was hoping that the lack of recent news meant he was doing better. Too sad
His accomplishments in the domestic field are well known, so I'll just mention his last new venture in motorsporst (and the one related to the accident): import drag racing. Even though he had the fastest time in NHRA Pro Compact before the accident, not too many people in the import world knew about him, probably because he was wearing Chevy colors in import land and therefore never received much press coverage. His 4-cylinder Cavalier ran a best of 6.99... way faster than any other 4 cyl. today and than the V6s and even V8s in his class at the time (back then they ran Pro RWD and FWD together and V8s weren't outlawed). I think he accomplished this in his first year of import racing! He set the bar real high and never received enough credit. Lord knows what kind of times he would be running today.
Rest in peace, John

Out of respect for JL, may i suggest that no further mention of Hennesey occur in this thread? Start another one in Car Talk if you want to review the whole sick story about Hennesey.
This saddens me. I was a fan of his and always dreamed of winning the lottery and sending him a ZO6 so he could work his magic. May he rest in peace and my thoughts are with his family.
Mr. Lingenfelter was a true genius and respected in the sport compact field. The accident happened some time back, but he developed an allergic reaction to the medication in Indiana and died as mentioned in RR post.
