Well the postman brought me a nice yellow box today. It had a JR Filter from Mingster in it. Installation took about 30 seconds and when I drove the car throttle response was improved by a lot. I really did not think that just a filter would make a difference, but to me it did. I was wondering if anyone else that has a JR Filter had the same results when they put it in their car. My car is stook except for the filter and I feel more power in the lower RPMs now.

Well I am glad that it is not just me, dark salt said that the power off the line would be improved and now that I have put it in I know what he is talking about. As for the Vtech question, what malachi said is right. If you are thinking of buying a air intake system, save your money and just buy a filter from mingster.

I am not doubting you guys on the filter but I know several people who have gotten the air filters put on and there have been no measurable difference. Of course I mainly am speaking of the K&N filters. Is there much of a difference between the K&N and JR Filters?

if you search this board you will find a dyno plot posted by Mingster. i assume that would qualify as "measurable difference."

As I recall, the plots showed no measurable difference. The difference from filter to filter was similar to differences between runs with the same filter. This says that with the methods used, no significant difference was demonstrated between the two filters. In other words, if individual runs under the same conditions vary up to 4 hp, a 2 hp difference is negligible and, well, not different.

I'm not saying a difference cannot be felt, but the kinds of differences were talking about here, on the order of 2-3-4 ponies are extremely difficult to feel on the good old butt dyno. There may be an slightly improved throttle response due to the increased airflow and that's cool, but difference that are less than 1% total horsepower are just extraordinarily difficult to 'feel'.

Isn't the JR filter a lifetime filter? That alone would be enough to invest in one...it also doesn't require oiling like the K&N, which is a pain.

JR filter needs oiling. MG Racing filter does not.
