Yes, it makes a difference, but it might be hard to notice with the butt dyno. The TP makes the biggest difference as part of a full exhaust system upgrade, (headers + TP + Catback exhaust).

But let us know how it goes. Is it louder, faster and/or smellier?

I have the TP with stock exhaust. It is louder, smellier, and feel more midrange power...

I've gotten used to the smell...

test pipe w/ stock exhaust wouldn't be any louder at all, although you'll feel the gain, once you go full throttle.

It will be slightly louder with a tp. Listen to an aftermarket exhaust with a cat and then with a tp, which one is louder? It won't be an obvious difference in sound, but it will definitely be a little louder and sound a little meaner.
