Default Just got my car yesterday, Quick Question

I have a quick Question. I can't turn on the heat without the "A/C" light coming on. Is that normal, or do I have a problem?

That should happen only when you have the defrost or defrost/footwell heat selected.

If the AC light is on, doesn't that mean that the compressor is running?

There is a way to disable it, you have to do some searching around, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the instructions, or a link.

Any and All cars, to my knowledge, your able to turn the compressor "off" by disengaging the pulley through a clutch(kind of like the trani). This turns the AC system off, and puts less strain on the motor, thus better MPG.

What I'm saying is that the actual AC button next to the steering wheel should enable you to turn on and off the AC. In my 05 ap2, The button does not allow me to turn on and off the light. I'm not sure if this is something I need to get fixed, or if this is true for all 05 AP2's

Take it off the defrost setting (negcamer already mentioned this).

Defrost turns on the compressor to dehumidify and defog the interior. Switch it to the dash vents or whatever and you can turn the AC off and on all you like.

turn the A/C control knob to a non defrost setting, i.e. no windshield symbol setting and A/C should be able to be toggled. The S has an awesome AC system, capable to keeping occupants comfy as low as 45 ambient. Even the A/C cooling works great with top down, simply fabulous!
