Default Just got my S2000!

I've been reading the forums (ok, trolling) for the last week or so as I've been getting acquainted with my new S.

I'm taking over the remaining lease on an '03 New Formula Red. It is replacing my 2000 Volvo C70 HPT Coupe 5spd (Anyone want to buy it? )

I've already ordered a host of stereo equipment (the stock system in the Volvo has ruined me, sounded beautiful).

That's all, just want to say hi and get my first post out of the way.

Oh, one more thing, VTEC beats the crap out of the turbo from my Volvo!

Congrats!

(I would have loved a C70 if they would have chosen to make it RWD )

Clean? not a problem. I've already waxed it once and hand washed it three times in about a month. I think it's a combination of the small size and smooth curves that make it a joy to wash (and takes about half the time, and towels, of my C70).

I didn't go for any rear audio solutions, I thought about it, but decided that it was too expensive to justify.

For now I've gone with just a Pioneer DEH-P460MP head unit (got a floor model on sale for a steal) and a pair of Polk DB6500 components for the front. No amp yet, but I may add one once I get a chance to listen. I don't want to drown out that sweet 4-cyl music from under the hood though. (All this, of course, is going to be controlled by my Modifry DCI that I have on order )

I went with the pioneer head unit because I A) wanted a head unit that I could add sirius too (I currently have a PnP unit in my Volvo hard wired and I LOVE it) and B) I wanted to use the wired DCI, not the IR one.

Anyways,
Thanks for the welcome, I hope to spend quite a bit of time here! (Though, I will miss www.swedespeed.com)

........

When not driving my S2000, I drive a Volvo S 60R, which gets 300 hp out of a 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine. Exactly the same 120 bhp/liter as the S2000. Under strong acceleration, the Volvo turbo sounds like a slightly noisy vacuum cleaner. By contrast, the S2000 sounds much more like a mean spirited chain saw. Turbo suffers that annoying little lag; the S2000 has that exciting explosive VTEC effect as it crosses 6000 rpm, affecting both the driver's ears and his butt.

Yeah, S2000 VTEC is a more exciting experience. I must admit, I have never experienced the Mazda RX-8, which gets its 238 hp at 8500 rpm, and coincidentally has similar torque and rpm characteristics to the pre-2004 S2000. Modern engine technology is truly amazing. As a very old guy, let me reminisce on two of my earliest automobiles:
- A 1960 Rambler American, whose flathead 6 got 90 horsepower out of about 3+ liters.
- A 1964 SAAB 96, with the infamous 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine. That got approximately 40 hp out of 850 cc, and the engine was pretty nearly guaranteed not to go more than 40,000 miles before seizing up. Of course, it cost only $200 to replace.
