Default Just a heads up for you guys....

Hey guys,

I'm just creating this thread to let you guys know that i think i will soon be creating one of those "my top with 3k miles is getting hole-y" threads. My 2007 s2k with 3200 miles on the clock is showing signs of holes forming on the soft top. THe spot is on the same spot that the other 50 million s2k tops develop a hole: above where your ear sits. I am utterly disappointed and I will be creating a thread with pictures and documentations to keep you guys updated. I have put the top down maybe 20 times in the life of the car. Very sad indeed.

Thanks in advance.

Tim

I think I'd try to re-inforce the area that shows wear. A new top will not fare any better and you have a chance now to keep these mech/tech's out of your car.
It may be great that they are there but only use them as a last resort.
I know I sound pretty cynical, but thats the way I feel.

Yes, I've had a replacement top done under warrantee about a year+ ago, and it's showing signs of the same wear (admittedly mine is an MY02).

Has there been a thread/poll to get a rough idea of how common this problem is, outside of the threads just reporting the issue?

my 06 seems to be doing fine... IMO you shouldnt worry about it, you're under warranty. as for me, i'm really not worried about it, i'm under extended warranty

the dealer won't just bend over and give it to you though. be very nice to everyone and make a couple friends in the service department, more specifically the service managre and the assistant service manager.

i had this done a little while ago, and the assistant service manager and manager agreed it had to be replaced but nothing could be done until the honda district manager took a look at it, so i had to wait for him to come to the dealer. got mine replaced tho. i had holes on both sides.

I will be giving this a try:
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/store...31911&ref=81902

Let you know how it goes. I was poking around the car today with the top almost all the way down and you can reach in and feel where the mechanism is concentrating significant pressure on the top.
