Just how short is the shift effort in the S2K
Is it anything like the Miata (which was considered to have the best "toggle switch" action of any production car back in the early 90's)?
Also, does the clutch release up high or down low when depressing the petal?
Lastly, when you rev 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears to 9,000 rpm, what are the three speeds you reach at that rpm? I thought I read in an earlier post that you can get to 60 in 2nd before you hit 9K.

Its shorter than even the Miata. It's *very* short.
The clutch engages at the "top" of the pedal stroke... when it's very nearly let out all the way.
The max speed in the first 3 gears are approximately 45, 66, and 93 mph...
voila.

I can't really speak to the Miata question, but I did recently drive (very briefly) my friend's Miata one night. It seemed not quite sloppy, but certainly less direct. Then again, I'm spoiled...but I'll let someone else answer the Miata comparison question....
As for gear speeds, remember that my car is fully broken in with 18k glorious miles on the odometer...and the speeds I am quoting are a click higher than what the car did before...
1st 42
2nd 62-63 (I have hit 64 on the track)
3rd 92
4th 120
5th not saying...
6th don't know...just make sure you have lots of road.
I have had the car to 145, tho. In the middle of Wisconsin on a sunny day. Top down, yea baby!

And the clutch engages just after the pedal comes up. At about halfway up, maybe a little less, the clutch feels like it's pretty well connected...

call me silly, but why would your car being broken in or not change the speed you can achieve in each gear???

I would also say that depending on where you drop into first, like from say 30 mph, that seems to have an effect on the max speed for first. If you just accelerate in first the whole time, I will have to shift at 42 mph. If I drop to first already rolling, I can get a couple more mph's out of it.
Have you hit 66 in second? I have never gotten up that high in 2nd...
ya... 66 in 2nd. The speeds I listed are what I get when I ride the rev limiter in each gear.
I'm sure the actual indicated speed isnt exactly accurate, and could probably vary an mph or two from one car to the next.
