.....just so frustrating that this site can't seem to be reliable or consistent?

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this site and community. It is the best wealth of information on our vehicle that can be found anywhere, and I would truly feel lost without it.

But it is so frustrating that the site is SO slow, or up and then down and then up again for such a prolonged period of time. Precisely why I won't pay for a membership as of yet.

At first I thought it was my T1 connection, so I ran a ping and found this:

So I know it isn't me...

You guys need to get a more reliable connection - move to a new co-lo or something....

Please remedy this problem soon, I need to continue to FEED MY ADDICTION!

JJ

AMEN! I was wondering if it was just me too, but all my other links pulled up just fine and fast so I knew it had to be this sites server / host. It's getting aggrevating but I'm glad we're back up.(for now)

It always tends to be down when I need to look up a previous post too.

In Site Info thread, Krazik says it is a server issue and they are working on it. I have missed the site as I have gotten mostly "timed out". Glad it's better now, though not up to speed.

I don't pay for membership to car forums anywhere else on the net - why pay here? I get good info at those sites, just like here.

Yep it's frustrating alright. But whenever the page doesn't load immediately, I just ping the site, and right away I know it's down and I have to find something else to surf at, like porn...

C'mon guys....this isn't a life or death site. If you're at loose ends because you can't access this site for a few hours, then no offense, but you need a life.

As for general performance, keep in mind that most sites you access are not constantly changing. That means that many of the screen elements can be pulled from your browser's cache. In fact, entire pages of some commonly accessed sites, like CNN, weather maps, etc, may be cached by your own ISP.

These forums have to be pulled from the server every time you access them.

I've been using online forums for over fifteen years. While this one isn't the most reliable I've ever used, it's a long, long way from being the worst. For my $20, it's pretty good.
