Default Just picked up my S2000!

Hi everyone!

I've been tracking the forum for a little while now; I found it once I began seriously considering an S2000. Well, I bit the bullet and picked up my new baby today!

Any tips for newbies would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Congrats and welcome to the club! Keep it under 6000 rpms for the first 600 miles and check the oil level at every gas fill up. Enjoy your new ride!

Protect your rear window! Get a muzmat or something similar, as well as a window tube. You also might as well find a can of plexus right now and get it all started right. I bought a used S2K, and the signs of window neglect are quite evident, even after only 13k miles.

Congrats on becoming an owner.

Check your tire pressure. I had 1000 miles on mine before I checked it for the first time. The tires had 44 psi when it should be 32. Made a big difference as the back end of the stook came around on me coming down a mountain road. Fortunately I maintained control. The dealer must have never checked.

Oh also be sure the spacers have been removed from the springs.

Welcome my Silver/Black brother. August is a good time to purchase in Phoenix and do your break in time because how much HP can you generate at 100+ degrees. You'll have your break in done in time for those cooler winter temperatures - Smart Move

*Definitely* check the tire pressure. I just had my rears replaced, and the car felt very odd driving (sorta squirrelly). With the old set the car required very little steering adjustments when driving, with the new I had to constantly adjust. I checked the tire pressure, 36psi left, 39psi. Dropping them down to 32psi made the car feel like normal again. I had no idea tire pressure made that much difference in the feel of the car!

Thanks for all the help everyone!

I just checked my pressures and they are all OK. I guess my dealer actually knew what they were doing (sort of anyway).

I'm looking forward to getting the break-in out of the way

If properly maintained (relatively normal driving), any ideas on how long the tires last? Also, about how much will they be to replace (and how hard is it to find them)?
