Default Just spent $519 for two new rear's

I just ordered from my local dealer two new rear tires. His price includes mounting, balancing and alignment. I can post their alignment page if anyone's interested.

For the guys on the east coast, it's TownFair Tire. They gave me $20 over for each tire when I mentioned the TireRack price --- and then included all the other stuff.

Anyway, here's the tires after 15,000 miles.

I'll probably save the tires for track tires!

Do you think they are even any good? I'm coming up on 9k on mine and I can already feel them getting squirrely around corners.

that seems high, my last rears from tirerack including shipping an mounting at discount tire were less than $475. In any case if you were going to S-02's I would have considered S03's... tirerack has them for $190 for the rears...

I spent $398 with shipping for the 2 OEM S-02 rears from Tire Rack and $36 at Discount Tire for mounting (just today, in fact).

A lot of us drove the the S-03 in Ft Worth in April in a wet autocross situation directly compared to the RE730 and RE 930. I, like many other people there, didn't care for the S-03.

they won't be the best for the track. you might think that there's more tread on the ground, but the rubber underneath is harder...

There are cleaning compounds and scraper stands that can restore older hard tires into good track tires. Grass Roots Motorsports had an article on this. I'll look up the product name. After the scraper treatment and aplication of the softening compound they found the old tires compared very well will new shaved tires of the same make. A good way to save a buck or two.

They don't have this article on the web page though.

The S03's are Not an upgrade to the stock OEM S02. They are an update to the S02 Pole Position, a rain tire.

The stock OEM S02 is a far better dry weather and track tire than the S03. In fact, a stock S02 without many heat cycles in it should do very well in the rain.

If you do a Lot of rain driving, "maybe" think about the S03. But in my experience, an S02 in good shape does just fine in the rain.

Hey S2000 Owner, throw away those old tires! Would you trust you life or the life of others on those bald tires?

I just ordered two rear OEM SO2's from America's Tire Company here in So. Cal and they matched Tire Rack's price. With mounting and balancing the out the door price will be about $440. These guys are great they fix flat's free including high speed balancing.

Lucky we have Tire Rack with low prices to drive down the prices of the retail folks.

RHES2K enjoying the top down weather!

I just replaced the rears on my S2000 with the OEM S02's from Tirerack.com...

Total price including tires and mounting/balancing was $413.00.
