I bought mine with 17k.

My MY00 has 75,000 miles on it. I can't imagine not driving it. I just don't see how you do it? When I send that check in every month to American Honda Finance I feel like I got my money's worth out of it. You must drive like three times a month or something.

Mileage is nothing but a number to me. I measure mileage in experience.

I had a "friend" who tried very hard to NOT DRIVE his car whenever we went somewhere. And his car was only a maxima but he treated it like it was his girlfriend and she aged rapidly whenever the car was driven.

I don't understand people like that. Cars are meant to be driven. But some people are so anal about mileage. thats one of my pet peeves.

I'm not talkin about any of the s2000 owners here. I understand how a MY2000 can only have 17,000 or so miles. My 2003 is my weekend car too and I tend NOT TO drive it as often during the week days because it is just too much of a hassle to be switching between my beater and the S2000. (I have lots of gears in mycar at any given time and the gears need to move with me too). But its not because I dont wanna be putting miles on the S.

On the death bed, I dont think anyone would be saying to himself "I'm glad I only put 60,00 miles into the S intstead of 120,000 miles".

I only got 10k on an MY02. Only because I only drive it on weekends and when its nice out. I guess if I lived in sunny Cali I would drive it everyday. I only wish I could drive it more.

I would recommend changing all your fluids (coolant, tranny, differential, brake) at this point, especially if none of them have ever been changed.

BTW, 12300 on my MY00
The coolant service interval for MY's 01-04 is 120,000 miles or 10 years. Then every 60,000 miles or 5 years thereafter.

Why change the coolant on a MY01 that is three years old with only 16k miles on it

In the past, I've always changed my coolant on my cars every three years. I expected this to be the same on the S, but you're right.

Why not?? I have 14,000 miles/23,000kms on my01. Store it in the winter, drive it in the summer but only on the nice days. It never sees rain. I change all my fluids every spring right after i take the car out of storage. It sees lots of AutoX and lapping days too... I change all my fluids once a year...

The Honda type-II coolant came out in 2001. Therefore, being that your S is a MY00, it is good that you changed your coolant when you did.

I think changing the type-II coolant once a year is overkill. It is designed to last 5 years or 60k miles. I see no benifit to changing the type-II coolant with less than 20k miles. If it is dirty or corroded at 20k, then something is VERY wrong to begin with.
