Thinking about where I'm heading with this S2000 thing. It looks like I will end up with a $42K-$46K Honda. Why not go out and buy something "more", "faster", or "better"? Surely, I'll never get my money out of this pit, so am I an idiot or what?

Well, think what you will, here's my reasoning. Yep, I could buy another vehicle. Let's say I get real enthusiastic (that's not the word my wife would use) and go for a Benz AMG - I'd like that. Or, go the limit and make it a Ferrari. What would I have? I'd have a car that would scoot, a big dent in my financial resources, and a one that, no matter how exotic, would be identical to any other equal model I would pull up next to. A Benz AMG is a Benz AMG. A Ferrari is a Ferrari. But, my S, no matter how many S's I see, is my S. I've seen very few S's with SC and the exhaust I have. I've picked out the mods myself from sources other than the show room floor. They are exactly what I want. They are available to anyone, but I have found that my S is unique. At lease MORE UNIQUE than any other car I'd buy regardless of the cost - of course, unless I'd modify it (I would I'm sure).

And how about getting my money out of this thing. I'm resigned to the fact that cars are always poor dollar investments. I figure they drop 30% in value when I drive off the sales lot. I don't buy cars to put money in the bank - not into my account anyway.

Gary
The car is a worthy modd canvas, go nuts. I have, and am doing so right now. BTW the amount I will end up spending would land me in the nut house, you are not alone.
Have fun
Mark

How can anything be more unique than something else? I thought unique was an absolute description in itself.

There are no absolutes when it comes to a man's car. As soon as it's ABSOLUTELY what you want, you see something else you need to buy, add or fiddle with. I'm afraid this thing never ends.

I think hecash has $25K in mods, so you still have a little ways to go.

[please correct me if I am wrong and it is not hecash]

Just think of it also as a money saver Gary, living in So.Ca. like you do think of the added salls tax, the higher registration and least of all the HIGHER insurance for the Benz and Ferrari. I too looked at the AMG Benz but realized that it's a car like any other car but it doesn't have the, the, the "THING" that the S2000 has. The thing being what ever torned your head to it in the first place being it class, sexyness, style or just that pure awesome looks that turned my head. Your not alone in your quest for your ahhh inspirring auto of your dreams Just do what makes YOU happy and piss on the rest...

You'll love this, they were talking about rasing the cost from the mere $33 yes $33 for 2 yrs to about $50 for 2 yrs and the people here bitched about it because it would be too expensive for some to afford to pay that much

Yes these burned out hippies here don't really know how good they have it, oh course the government wouldn't pay for it so it was no good
