K&N FIPK Install thread and tips
Hi guys,
I'm putting on the above this weekend and was wondering if somone could direct me to link with some pics and what to watch out for. I searched but just found talk about sound and performance gains etc.
If someone has done this allready i would appreciate some direction to a link.
I recently put an AP2 nose on an AP1 and the help i found on here on the subject was awsome! Saved a ton of time!

I don't have a link to the instruction (perhaps you could try K&N's instruction), but I have one heads up for you. Maybe not everybody had this problem, but I had very hard time putting the edge trim (part S in the diagram in the instruction) around the heat shield. Mine is attached but not on the every edge. Other than that, it was very straight forward.
Good luck and enjoy the sound afterward

I think if you have tools to cut the trim piece into the length of each section of the heat shield, that would work a lot better. With the steel strips in the trim piece, I think its almost impossible to bend it 90 degrees to match the shape of the heat shield.

I just didn't put it on, i figured it wasn't that important and it looked like ass. What purpose does it really serve?

I cut my trim piece in one spot to make it fit. Otherwise a pretty painless install. One note is that you have to really push down on the trim to make sure it's all the way seated onto the heat shield - once it's on there, it won't want to move.
First of all.....just follow the K&N instructions. They are more than adequate. On the rubber gasket I just cut the metal backbone only for my 90 degree turns and left the rubber intact. It works great but you need some tin snippers and a steady hand.
Ha funny I just finished this install about 2 hrs ago. Not hard at all.. the only thing thats tough is getting all the stock hoses off since they seem to want to stick. A set of pliars does the trick when you break them free by twisting them. I didnt use all of the trim.. only did the trim on the top of the box since I saw it useless to wrap it all around with the trim.
