Default K&N Fitment question

Yes I have searched, keep in mind we don't have the easiet search engine to navigate

I'm looking to buy an K&N FIPK Gen2 from a friend who has it on an AP1. I see that they have different part numbers for AP2. Crutchfield says it will fit 2000-2004 but that doesn't make much sense to me as 2004-2005 are indentical. Did they mean to say 2000-2003? What is the difference on the motor on an ap1 & ap2? Basically, will it work?

Thanks in advance,

-j

AP2 and some AP1 have a second horn mounted where the intake sits. Those cars need a horn relocation kit.

So the AP1 version will not fit the AP2 without this relocation kit? The K&N website seems to say yes it will fit and I see tons of posts from AP2 owners saying it was an easy install. Regardless if Xviper says it, it must be true. Should I buy this intake and then look for a "horn relocation kit" or is this something that would come with the AP2 version of the intake from k&N.

Of course it'll fit. This "relocation kit" for the horn is just a means to mount it someplace else. If all you really want is to put the intake on, you just remove the horn. You could duct tape the damn horn anywhere else you want. The relocation kit is just a little bracket. It shouldn't be rocket science.

Ah okay, what is the second horn for anyway? I'll take a look under my hood, I'm fairly handy I'm sure it won't be a big deal. Sorry for the ignornant post, you made it sound detailed with the word kit, lol.

I didn't want to detract from the manufacturer's emphasis on this little part.
The cars that have 2 horns utilize a "dual tone" system - a high tone and a low tone. This is supposedly to make the sound more audible than just a single tone.
