KBB and NADA
For instance,
2005 with 27k miles in good condition.
KBB;
22,200 Trade in value
24,000 Private Party
NADA
22,000 Trade
25,000 Retail
Lets imagine i can buy a 2005 with 27k miles for $21,000 my calculations this would be a once in a lifetime deal. If the values are correct.
Am I getting a once in a lifetime deal?

a little bit on that Kalibo. Most dealerships if not all go by the prices you see there. If not, they even charge more than what is given in the blue book. Private party sales is what I would agree on, as it varies to being about the price it should cost or you can have someone sell it really cheap. Just take a look in the for sale forum and you can see how much the prices vary on similar vehicles.
As far as comparing other dealerships would be the best way to look at other prices for other vehicles. That would be the best route to take so you always have a comparison. Private parties are negotiable so it would be hard finding similar prices on similar cars.To the OP, thats a pretty good deal assuming no problems. I assume as well, your not trading the car in but purchasing it(confusing a lil since you put up the trade in value) and going thru a private seller.? As far as a once in a lifetime deal... I dont know, but it would be hard to beat. Like I said, its a good price but there are still many out there you might be unaware of. Good luck with your purchase if your planning to.

Another good data point is http://www.carmax.com They'll actually sell you a car at their posted price, so it's not a hypothetical price.
But KBB gives 3 prices, and 21,000 is good for a car in "fair" condition. Here's what I get with my zip:
Excellent $24,405
Good $23,115
Fair $21,275
If the car is in Good or Excellent condition, you're getting a deal. But remember, if it's too good to be true... Take a close look before parting with your money.
